ETNODJ

EtnoDJ is a Colombian sonic exploratory that weaves a collective archive of the country's sounds, to create compositions through a digital console that mixes the plurality of voices that make it up, imagining new ways of recognizing, narrating and connecting through sound.

As co-founder and technical lead, I designed the UI/UX and developed the full stack for the centerpiece of the exploratory: a digital mixing console that allows users to mix and interact with audio files of Colombian material and immaterial heritage in real time.

The Exploratory

Winner of 2025 National Grant for Transmedia Project Development awarded by the el Colombian Ministry of Cultures, EtnoDJ is more than just a project; it is a cultural, pedagogical, artistic, and technological ecosystem. The exploratory seeks to democratize access to the sounds that represent Colombia—its cultures, its territories, and its people—through digital interaction.

From concept to prototype

The primary challenge was to design an interface that was intuitive for users with no musical background, yet robust enough to function like a real console. Using Figmathe entire user experience (UX) flow and interface design (UI) were developed. Wireframes were created to test control ergonomics on desktop screens, evolving into a high-fidelity interactive prototype that defined the immersive, tactile aesthetic of the final console.

In the design and development of the console, reasonable accommodations are being integrated to ensure access for everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive conditions.
